A Measure of Trust

“Would you have prayed any less for our nation if Mitt Romney had been elected President of the United States of America?”

This is the question I believe the Spirit of the Lord asked me in my heart moments after I heard the results.

I’ll turn that question around:  are you going to pray even just a little bit more now that President Obama has been reelected.

My honest answer was:  “Yes.”

So then, I heard in my heart, “what measure of trust did you place in Romney that belonged to Me?”

Hmm.  Ouch.  Huh?

Those were my reactions.  Then these verses came to my memory:

Thus says the Lord:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.
For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,
And shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
In a salt land which is not inhabited.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
-Jeremiah 17:5-8
The Almighty God deserves all my trust.  He has a perfect track record.

This, for me, was a time to repent and re-evaluate where I had placed my trust.  We need to be diligent to put all our trust in the Living God.

The Word of God instructs us to trust in Him with all our heart.  Not part of it, not most of it, not 99.9% of it...the whole thing.
